Current DSC members

Brian Cooper, Chairman
BE (Hons), MEngSc, Grad DipEng Mgt, FIEAust, CPEng, RPEQ
Nominee of Institution of Engineers, Australia
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 1997.

Brian Cooper  

Brian was a Principal Engineer, Dams Safety, with the Department of Commerce until his retirement in 2005.   He has over forty years of experience in water industry, including extensive dam design experience.   He now practices as a consultant.

In April 2009 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Dams Safety Committee.

     

Bill Barraclough
BE (Mining)
Nominee of Minister for Resources and Energy
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 2014.

Bill Barraclough  

Bill has 20 years operational experience in coal mines predominantly in the southern coalfields of NSW.  For the last 14 years he has worked with the Mine Safety Operations unit of the NSW Department of Trade and Investment and currently holds the position of South East Area Manager and Senior Inspector.

He is a member of the DSC's Mining Sub-Committee.

     
           

Ian Forster

Nominee for the State owned Electricity Generators
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 1989.

Ian Forster  

Ian is a specialist dam safety consultant and associate with Aurecon Australasia. He is currently responsible for the safety management of dams owned by the NSW State-owned power generators. Ian has over thirty years experience in dam safety management and geotechnical engineering and hydrogeology related to dams, power stations, tunnels and coal mining.

He is the Chairman of the DSC's Mining Sub-Committee and a board member of the Mine Subsidence Technological Society.

     

Jeffrey Gleeson, Deputy Chairman
BE (Civil), FIEAust, CPEng, A Prof CivilEng
Nominee of Hunter Water Corporation
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 1990.

Jeff Gleeson  

Jeff is Manager, Engineering, Hunter Water Australia, the consultancy division of the Hunter Water Corporation. He has over thirty years experience in the water and waste-water field with involvement in various aspects of dam engineering and structural design.

He is a member of the DSC's Surveillance Sub-Committee.

     

Norman Himsley
BE, MEngSc, GradDipBus, FIEAust, CPEng
Nominee of Institution of Engineers, Australia
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 2009.

Himsley  

Norm was Executive Engineer of the NSW Dams Safety Committee until his retirement in 2009. He has over thirty-five years of experience in the water industry including extensive experience in dam safety management applications. He now practices as a consultant.

He is the Chairman of the DSC's Surveillance Sub-Committee.

     

Dene Jamieson
BE (Civil)
Nominee of Minister for Commerce
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 2009.

Dene Jamieson  

Dene is Principal Engineer of the Department of Finance & Services working on dam and irrigations projects. He has over thirty years experience in the design, investigation and construction oversight of dams, weirs, hydraulic regulation structures, fishways, river management works and other civil / structural works. He has managed multi-disciplinary project teams undertaking the investigation and design of several major dam engineering projects.

 

     

Ian Landon-Jones
BE (Hons), MEngSc, MIEAust, CPEng
Nominee of Sydney Catchment Authority
Appointed to December 2014. Initially appointed 2001.

Ian Landon-Jones  

Ian is Principal Advisor Technical with the Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA). He has over thirty years experience in the water and dams fields, through his work with the SCA, and previously with Sydney Water.

He is a member of the DSC Mining Sub-Committee, and Chairman of the Emergency Management Sub-Committee.
